Clara is an app that keeps the records of small businesses in Nigeria. Your records are your business, so this page says, in plain words, what we keep, why, who helps us keep it, and what you can ask us to do. Clara follows the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023.

Who we are

Clara is run by Iyebiye Olatokun in Nigeria. For anything about your data, write to [email protected].

What we keep

Why we keep it

We never sell your data, and we never use your records to advertise to you or to anyone else.

Who helps us

A few trusted companies run parts of Clara for us. They only use your data to do that job for Clara.

These companies may keep data on servers outside Nigeria. We choose services that protect data to a high standard.

How long we keep it

Your records stay as long as you have a Clara account, because they are your business history. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete it and your records within 30 days. Beta requests we cannot accept are deleted within 12 months.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

Write to [email protected] and we will reply within 30 days. If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

Keeping it safe

Your records can only be read by you and the staff you invite, and staff only see what their role allows. Every connection is encrypted. Saved records cannot be edited or deleted from a phone; a correction is added as a new record. We do not store passwords: you sign in with a code sent to your phone, or with Google.

Children

Clara is for business owners and their staff, and is not meant for anyone under 18.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will update this page and the date at the top. If a change affects how we use your records, we will tell you in the app first.
